| Microsoft Excel has been around for 25 years and is well known for its
power as a what-if tool in the world of business. It is part of the Microsoft
Office package, and as such is already owned by a large majority of users. Its
use as a tool for learning Mathematics is less well-known, but a growing number
of related resources are being made available. This site will not show you how to use Excel without using the graphing capability of Excel. This site will show you how to unleash the graphing capability of Excel to serve the needs of math students and math educators. . When accompanied by the templates for Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Finances, Calculus, Statistics and Probability, Number Theory and Linear Algebra, Excel is a powerful ally in the effort to teach and learn mathematics. For those who want to use Excel to graph math functions, I offer the tutorials for both recent versions of Excel: 2003 and 2007. I am also available to conduct workshops to train groups to develop skills to make Dynamic Interactive Spreadsheets. |

For teachers and students, you will also find a long list of prepared templates. These templates are usually interactive. This means that they require little knowledge of how to graph in or use Excel. In an interactive template, you read, you click, and perhaps you might type a number in a cell; but you do not have to do any special tricks with Excel. If you can type a number into a word processed document, you can use an interactive template - the difference is that you enter the number into a cell. Because it is so easy to change the basic ingredients and have the template do all the work for you, you can relax and create as many examples as you need without typing a formulas or copying cells. |
| If you are a visual learner, then these templates are for
you. If you need many examples, you can create thousands of examples using the
templates. The templates will often show you the results in printed form
as well as in graphic form; in mathematics, we need both.
